چکیده

Based on the concepts of Virtual Corporation and Gradual Virtualization, we develop an instrument to measure the degree of virtualization (DV) of organizations. Virtual corporations are networks of independent companies, who cooperate to satisfy customer needs by combining their distinct core competencies. Hence, an instrument to measure the DV of a network has to integrate characteristics of collaborating firms as well as the characteristics of their relationships. For our analysis we define eight factors determining gradual virtualization, which are aggregated into one final index. We tested our instrument empirically with data of German and Austrian consulting companies. An exploratory factor analysis as well as Cronbach`s alpha coefficients confirm high validity and reliability of our instrument and support our theoretical model.

Measuring the Degree of Virtualization - An Empirical Analysis in two Austrian Industries

Strategic management literature suggests that especially in young and dynamic industries Virtual Corporations are more likely to emerge, as this type of organization is flexible enough to deal with rapidly changing environments. This paper challenges the proposition that environmental uncertainty and technological change lead to organizational adaptation towards virtual structures. We analyzed ...

Critical Success Factors for Data Virtualization: A Literature Review

Data Virtualization (DV) has become an important method to store and handle data cost-efficiently. However, it is unclear what kind of data and when data should be virtualized or not. We applied a design science approach in the first stage to get a state of the art of DV regarding data integration and to present a concept matrix. We extend the knowledge base with a systematic literature review ...

Aging Study of Oil Impregnated Repulped and Standard Cellulose through Measuring Viscometric Degree of Polymerization

This paper describes the aging behavior of the oil impregnated repulped cellulose and compares it with the aging behavior of the oil impregnated standard cellulose. In order to evaluate the reliability of using repulped cellulose in transformers, the accelerated aging process was applied to both types of cellulose by increasing the temperature to 150 °C and their aging behavior was studied and ...

Dr. Tim R. Norton Simalytic Solutions, LLC CMG 2009 Paper 9103 Session 601 System Virtualization allows multiple O/S images to execute on a single physical host computer. Measuring the host resource usage is straightforward and the necessary tools are included with most virtualization environments. However, complexities introduced by the different virtualization techniques create problems with ...
